Our Heritage: From Wilderness to Sustainable Agriculture

Three Generations of Agricultural Excellence

Our story begins in 1955, when Lt. Shri Prithviraj Anand, son of Lt. Shri Dinanath Anand, was allotted 197 acres of jungle land following the 1947 partition. Through determination and hard work, the family transformed this wilderness into fertile agricultural land.

Over two generations, the farm evolved to cultivate 45 acres of diverse crops including paddy, wheat, sugarcane, potato, pulses, sunflower, maize, and various vegetables. This rich agricultural heritage saw successful trials of specialty crops like safed musli, papaya, and sweet corn, demonstrating the land's exceptional fertility and our family's innovative spirit.

Current Stewardship

Today, Vipul Anand, grandson of Lt. Shri Prithviraj Anand, manages our 14-acre heritage farm with a deep commitment to sustainable agriculture. For over three decades, he has preserved not just the land, but also the community bonds that have remained loyal to our family for 69 years.

Our Sustainable Farming Philosophy

In an era of environmental challenges and eroding social values, we've doubled down on practices that honor both nature and community. We believe that healthy soil creates healthy communities, and that our connection to the land reflects our connection to each other.

Regenerative Practices

Our commitment to soil health drives every decision we make:

  • Organic Matter Management: We produce and apply farmyard manure and vermicompost on-site, ensuring nothing goes to waste while maintaining rich soil carbon content and thriving microorganism populations
  • Natural Nitrogen Fixation: Through strategic crop rotation with moong (green gram), lentils, peas, and dhaincha, we naturally replenish soil nitrogen
  • Minimal Chemical Inputs: We avoid harsh pesticides and practice manual weeding, using chemical fertilizers only when absolutely necessary
  • Micronutrient Management: Addressing the iron deficiency common in the Kheri Shish gram land area, we apply targeted treatments including zinc sprays and gypsum to improve soil electrical conductivity

Community Integration

Our sustainable approach extends beyond soil health to community wellbeing. We practice intercropping with mustard, carrots, and radish—crops that not only improve soil health but also provide essential food items for local families. This reflects our belief that farming should nurture both the land and the people who depend on it.

Looking Forward

As we face the dual challenges of environmental degradation and social disconnection, Anand Agro Farms stands as a testament to the power of traditional wisdom combined with modern sustainable practices. We remain committed to demonstrating that agriculture can be a force for regeneration—of soil, of community trust, and of our fundamental connection to nature.

Our Sustainable Farming Approach

At Anand Agro Farms, we blend time-tested agricultural wisdom with cutting-edge sustainable practices to create a thriving 14-acre ecosystem. Our commitment to responsible farming has positioned us as a leader in the region's agricultural community.

Innovative Water Management

Understanding the critical importance of water conservation in Pehowa's dark zone region, we've invested in advanced irrigation infrastructure. Our recently installed subsurface pipeline system now covers all 14 acres, ensuring efficient water distribution while minimizing waste. This system, combined with strategic land leveling technology, optimizes water usage for flood irrigation in paddy cultivation while preventing waterlogging.

Natural Farming Practices

We maintain soil health through regular additions of organic matter and the application of bio-decomposers. For pest management, we utilize natural solutions including neem-based insecticides and extracts from locally available plants, creating a chemical-free environment that protects both crops and beneficial organisms.

Strategic Farm Design

Our fields sit at a higher elevation compared to surrounding farms, providing natural drainage advantages. This thoughtful positioning, combined with minimal soil erosion, ensures our crops remain protected even during heavy rainfall events—a crucial advantage that has made our farm highly sought-after among contract farming partners.

Proven Success

Our sustainable practices have yielded impressive results. The farm consistently commands premium rates in the contract farming market, thanks to our superior soil quality, excellent moisture retention, and reliable crop performance. These achievements demonstrate that environmentally responsible farming can also be economically viable.

Our Vision for Regional Agriculture

As water scarcity becomes an increasing concern in Haryana, we advocate for a shift toward water-efficient crops and farming methods. We invite fellow farmers to join us in preserving our precious groundwater resources while maintaining profitable operations. Together, we can set an example for sustainable agriculture across the state.

Inspiring a Regional Revolution

As groundwater levels waver across Haryana, we call on fellow farmers to embrace water-smart cropping, regenerative soil care, and community-led markets. Together, we can safeguard our lifeblood—the soil—and rejuvenate rural prosperity.
